Legal Separation
This type of proceeding is nearly identical to a dissolution of marriage, except that the parties remain legally married after resolving issues relating to property division, spousal support, child support, and child custody and visitation. There are several different reasons a party may opt for a legal separation rather than a dissolution of marriage. It may simply be a personal choice, a religious or moral issue, or a desire to keep the marital status intact for health insurance purposes. Our office can assist you in determining whether this option is desirable for your unique and individual case.
